So I started this blog in hopes that it would become a permanent part of my life - somewhere I would express my love for beauty products and beauty-related things, document my reviews, discoveries and disappointments in the beauty world and most importantly, something that would keep me sane in the midst my stressful life.
But, typical of so many things that I venture into in my life, I just stopped. I really didn't stop because of any reason in particular, my life just got busy, and I decided to put off writing in this blog until eventually I forgot I had a blog at all!
But I realized I am in need of this. Even if no one follows this blog, this site gives me an outlet to discuss my thoughts about things that are happening in the beauty world. Nowadays, we are bombarded with so many opinions and advertisements about different products. Whether it be from commercials, late night QVC demos, or beauty YouTube videos, everyone is always trying to get in their two cents and trying to get you to buy into a certain product.
But what about my thoughts? Having bought makeup obsessively for over 6 years now (holy crap!), I feel like I have a lot to say. People have always come to me for beauty advice and recommendations. And I am always up for trying out new and exciting products...so why not share my thoughts!? (Even if no one reads this blog, this can serve to personally document my thoughts on products, because lord knows I can't remember everything I have tried).
So there. I have re-committed myself to this blog. Blackbirdbeauty, I am sorry I left, but I am here now, and I am planning to stay.
Talk to you guys soon,

Review: Sephora Collection Supreme Cleansing Oil
After using Josie Maran's Argan Oil for a couple of months as a nighttime moisturizer, I was completely sold on the benefits of skincare oils. Each morning, I was astonished at my amazingly soft and soothed skin, and the fact that the oil (which concerned an oily skinned, break out prone girl like me) didn't break me out at all! Since then, I've been interested in cleansing oils, and since seeing Sephora's cleaninsg oil hit stores a few months back, I've been pretty excited about trying it.
But sad to say, I didn't like this this product and have actually exchanged it for another cleanser. Biggest problem: In my week of using it, this product made me break out bad. And I mean BAD. My skin hasn't been this bad for a longgg time, even worse than when my hormones/stress levels are going crazy. It might be due to my skin-type, so if any of you guys have a similar skin type, I would defintely skip out on this product!
As far as the cleanser actually works, it was pretty decent. It did a good job of getting rid of face makeup, and didn't leave an oily film on my skin. I did notice that afterwards my skin felt soft, and not dried out, unlike some other cleansers. This product didn't perform as well on the eyes, however, especially with waterproof mascara. I found that I had to go back with a separate eye-makeup remover to completely get all my makeup off.
The packaging of the product was also decent - it's not the most fancy looking bottle but for a cleanser, it doesn't really need to be. In comparison to other other cleansing oils, the size was pretty large (6.4 oz) for the relatively small price. The pump on this bottle was kind of strange; it deposited the tiniest amount of product each time. This isn't necessarily good or bad (it might even be great, as it would probably save people from wasting too much), it was just interesting and unexpected.
But overall, the fact that it broke me out (and I'm still recovering from this!) was a HUGE problem, and I can safely say I won't be repurchasing it in the future. If any of you guys are wondering, I exchanged it for Clinique's Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser - I'll let you know how that goes!

Why, Hello There!
Hi there :)
So I've wanted to start a blog for quite some time now, and last night, lying in bed (where, of course, one always has the most amazing thoughts/epiphanies), I finally decided to go ahead and do it. So here I am, ready to go!
I guess I should start off by telling you guys about myself. I am a 19 year old (almost 20!- yikes) beauty addict (make up, skin care, fragrance, you name it). I am obsessed with trying out new things, and am on a personal mission to find the best beauty products that I can dedicate myself to long-term. I've had experience with A LOT of products, and have many more in my mind to try out in the future (seriously, my shopping list is ridiculous), so I thought it might be nice to document my thoughts/reviews on them as I go (for myself, and for any of you guys out there that might be interested).
Some more about me: I grew up in New York, now live in Texas; I am a senior at university, majoring in biology; work part-time at an emergency room.
That's all I can really think of saying right now, I am excited to do my first post on an actual product (once I figure out what that is, haha)
